Let's start off by saying there are 3 effective ways to put out a grease or pan fire and water is NOT one of them.

  1. Safest way is by a fire extinguisher
  2. Suffocate with a lid
  3. Pour baking soda

This homeowner wasn't as quick to respond. A pan fire got out of control and basically melted the microwave, burned the cabinets, and scorched the ceiling. SERVPRO of Highland Village was called in and found that the majority of the kitchen needed to be torn out.
